All schools are receiving additional funding from the government, to support their own curriculum programmes, organised to further develop the provision and allocation of sports and P.E.provision.

Purpose of the funding

Schools will have to spend the sports funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they will have the freedom to choose how they do this.

Possible types of funding use include:

Hiring specialist PE teachers or sports coaches to work alongside teachers

New sport clubs

Paying for staff development opportunities in PE/sport

Entering sport competitions, or increasing participation in school games

Buying materials for PE/sport

Providing places for pupils on after school sport clubs and holiday clubs

Sport and P.E. Premium Funding at Marksbury

At Marksbury we have been employing Sports coaches weekly to deliver high quality P.E. lessons working alongside the teachers, offering advice and assisting with assessment. We have subsidised whole school swimming, attended regular sports festivals and funded additional transport to enable children from a small rural community to be involved in larger events.  Therefore it is our expectations that PE provision in our school will:

Enhance the sports provision for our children.

Allow our staff to further develop professionally to ensure a sustained improvement in our sports' delivery programme.

Broaden the sporting opportunities and experiences available to pupils.

Ensure that pupils develop a love of sport and physical activity.

Continue to be judged as ‘outstanding’ by external monitoring.
